Laima Chocolate Factory

Even though the history of chocolate production in Latvia goes back many years, the famous Latvian chocolate company Laima was established in 1925, and still to this day is the leading local chocolate company in the country, which has survived Latvia’s turbulent history.

At the same time, in 1936, when architect Staņislavs Borbala’s (1907-2000) Laima administration building on the corner of Miera and Palīdzības streets was completed, the clock on the square by the Freedom Monument was decorated with the Laima logo, and since then it has been called the Laima Clock and become the central meeting place of Riga residents. It is possible to get better acquainted with the history of Latvian chocolate making, as well as try first hand making your own piece of chocolate, at the Laima Chocolate Museum. A special bench in the form of a Laima chocolate box has also been erected outside the production facility – perfect for photos. At the moment, Laima produces 90 different types of chocolate.
